There really is something for everyone in this beautiful part of Brittany that the Bretons call "the land where the mountains meet the sea". The coastline of the Crozon Peninsula is one of the most beautiful, with pine clad cliffs, white sand and turquoise water which give it, in places an almost meditteranean feel.
Dotted with small bays and interspersed with wide sandy beaches and friendly little ports - the choice is yours. The little town of Morgat has a marina and a selection of little restaurants and bars. From here there is a stunning cliff top walk to the Cap de la Chevre (Goat's head), which is highly recommended for the energetic.
In fact the whole of the Crozon Peninsula is worth visiting with the Pointe des Espagnols, with views across the Rade de Brest, to the port of Brest itself and the windswept Pointe de Penhir, particularly worth seeing.
Inland you can explore the Black Mountains by foot, car or bike, or closer to home, the Parc Regionale d'Armorique. Drive or walk up the Menez Hom for views over the peninsula. Steeped in legend, this area is dotted with mystic alignments of standing stones and other prehistoric remains.
The historic and picturesque town of Quimper on the river Oder offers a good choice of shops, restaurants.
The large bustling seaside resort of Douarnenez and the little port of Audierne where you can visit the magnificent Pointe de Raz jutting into the atlantic or take a boat trip to the Isle de Sein.
The Bretons show their traditions in the fest noz which are plentiful during the summer.
